Netcare 911 alerts the public to misuse of its name
Johannesburg, 31 July, 2009 Tumi Nkosi, Chief Officer of Netcare 911, today confirmed that the Netcare 911 brand name has been misused in a series of hoax e-mails currently being distributed countrywide.
According to Nkosi, this can in part be ascribed to Netcare 911’s high public profile. “Given our credibility in the marketplace, the Netcare 911 brand name provides a perfect cover for mischievous individuals distributing these urban legends, most of which are grossly untrue.”
Nkosi states that Netcare 911 has never been consulted on the contents of any of the mass e-mails currently in circulation. “Unfortunately, we are only alerted to such instances once reported in the newspapers, by which time it has caused untold concern in the hearts and minds of the public.”
“We urge members of the public to be vigilant to the existence of these hoax e-mails, as they todo not originate from Netcare 911. This is not something we wish to associate ourselves with and is not the way in which we choose to communicate with the public,” concludes Nkosi.
