Our core value of care was best demonstrated in December 2005. Netcare 911 provided the medical team consisting of 20 medics including doctors; Trauma & ICU trained nurses and paramedics.
The rescue mission was the first mass evacuation of tourist nationals from Phuket by any country.
Our values of participation, dignity and passion extended to maintaining ongoing relief efforts. During the following 2 months volunteers from all across the Netcare group of companies including Netcare 911, spent their days and evenings at O R Tambo International airport packing donated goods and supplies for shipment to the affected areas. A further R6,2 million, raised by the SA Tsunami Relief Fund in conjunction with Pick ‘n Pay Retailers, was donated in 2007 to rebuild the “South Africa Village” in Bande Aceh (Indonesia).
